Caprine Myostatin Gene Polymorphism in Domestic and Wild Goat Breeds in Duhok Province/Kurdistan Region of Iraq Using PCR-RFLP and SNP Markers

In Iraq generally and Kurdistan region specifically, goats are an important resource for meat milk production. It is well known that Myostatin genes (MSTN) have the essential role in growth development due to its crucial involvement muscle growth. The goal of this research was reveal polymorphism MSTN gene different Capra hircus breeds (native, Shami, Meriz Kamori goat) wild mountain goat (Capra aegagrus) via PCR-RFLP technique direct seqencing (exon 1) polymorphisms were investigated all breeds, MSTN-Dra I/RFLP revealed three genotypes AA BB homozygous AB heterozygous. calculated genotype frequencies 0.270, 0.368 0.362 AA, respectively. allelic frequency 0.451 A allele 0.549 B allele. average observed heterozygosity homozygosity 0.638. sequence data Native Shami 31 SNPs nonfunctional region. addition, exon there 1 both breed samples which did not change amino acid silence mutation. conclusion, result SNP experiments obtained investigation evaluated as very useful analysis local breeds/populations. Thus, DNA could be used reliable genetic marker breeding programs
